DIY home alarm with flashing light

It may not seem much, but in the dark, in an emergency, the dual features of a DIY home alarm alongside a flashing or strobing light - add up to ruinous exposure for the wannabe burglar.

Generally, these chaps are low-risk managers and anything that places them in high-risk category on the job will signal the end of the job. They'll be off.

Also note, in many self install home security products, the flashing light can be switched to a regular light position so you can use it to rely on in a power outage.

Batteries or Mains Power for the DIY Home Alarm?

Many DIY wireless home alarm units use batteries for routine operation, much like many wireless smoke alarms do. Battery types range from the tiny AAA to larger 9 volt ones. A few take a lithium battery, such as the Corner Door Chime with its disguised shape and 32 codes to ensure you can avoid any outside signal interference.

A number of motion detector alarms have the capacity for a backup plug-in adaptor, and the Broan Wireless Doorbell Chime plugs straight into mains power and has the capacity for multi-door surveillance.

The Coded DIY Home Alarm

The DIY wireless home alarm can have a programmable security code for disarming and rearming. A number of the motion detector alarms are not simply set with an on/off or arm/disarm switch. Some include the use of a security code to arm/disarm. This creates greater security.

Additionally, many of these DIY home alarm units allow for this code to be your personal code, creating another level of security as well as ease of personal use.

A quick word, in case you haven't seen how the DIY home alarm for windows works to detect an attempted opening – as opposed to a clear glass-break entry. These have magnetic sensors with 6' of wire, which you attach to the window glass. This sensor detects the attempted opening of the window. Much more subtle. Now you don't have to lie away at night, listening to every sound. Take a look: window alarm with magnetic sensor.
